Remain Faithful

Lets Shine! Photo by Kevin Delvecchio on Unsplash

The world seems dark right now. This is not the first time our world has walked the path of darkness. I watch my Christian brothers and sisters falter, and it breaks my heart. Then I ask myself, where is my faith? My soul whispers, “remain faithful.”

After Paul speaks in the synagogue at Antioch, Acts 13:43 reads: After the congregation had dispersed, many Jews and worshipers who were converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to remain faithful to the grace of God.

I get it, discouragement and fear drains the life force of faith from our features. Some of my friends and colleagues have given up. I’ve been there wanting security and fun. For many years I stood the middle trying to appease everyone around me. I straddled God’s path and the secular world. Why? Because I was afraid of losing my livelihood. Remember that Great Recession? How would I feed my family? As the world becomes more hostile to the faithful, I am facing tough decisions based on the choices my managers and government may make. And yes, that ugly fear pokes at me again.

We are in the midst of a fight for truth, and I am watching God’s people give up the fight before battle is over. I want to see truth. Yes, there is darkness all around us, but we do not need to accept it. He calls us to be the light of the world! [Matthew 5:14] With God in our lives, we dispel darkness! And United with God, we bring light and truth to a dark world. My candle may not burn as bright as some, but thousands, no… millions of Christians in the world today burn bright.

In my search for ‘remain faithful’ I found Psalm 12. King David cries for help from the Lord. The New American Bible Revised Edition titles this Psalm: Prayer Against Evil Tongues. Nothing could be more appropriate for me today as I fight to remain faithful. Please pray in the spirit with me Psalm 12:

1For the leader; “upon the eighth.” A psalm of David.

I

2Help, Lord, for no one loyal remains;

the faithful have vanished from the children of men.

3 They tell lies to one another,

speak with deceiving lips and a double heart.

II

4May the Lord cut off all deceiving lips,

and every boastful tongue,

5Those who say, “By our tongues we prevail;

when our lips speak, who can lord it over us?”

III

6“Because they rob the weak, and the needy groan,

I will now arise,” says the Lord;

I will grant safety to whoever longs for it.”

IV

7The promises of the Lord are sure,

silver refined in a crucible,

silver purified seven times.

8 You, O Lord, protect us always;

preserve us from this generation.

9 On every side the wicked roam;

the shameless are extolled by the children of men.

In the name of Jesus amen.

Hold on to your faith in our awesome God and remain faithful. He will reveal the truth. Shine bright with me today, my friends,

Milly

  1. What you’re saying is so true, with all the darkness around us it’s easy to give up or give in. I too have been guilty of this lately but what I have to do is listen to God not to man. Thanks for the Psalm’ how much it exprsses what we’re feeling today.

    1. Hi. Gayle, Thank you for remaining faithful. This is a very dark time and our faith is tested. We need to encourage each other because the world needs the light of Christ more now than ever. I am blessed that this post has encouraged you also. Stay strong in the Lord, he is our fortress. God bless you. Milly.
