The Dawn

The Master Creator’s Morning Miracle (Photo by Milly’s Helper)

Have you ever driven into the dawn? Recently I rediscovered the blessing of the dawn. This is a gift given to us every day. This week, at five in the morning, I loaded the cooler and my guys into the van and we headed out for an appointment in South Florida. The drive would take about five hours. Soon the night owls dozed off and I began morning prayers. Turning onto Highway 40 we headed east into the Ocala National Forest. Highway 40 cuts through the middle of the forest generally running east to west across the state.

Settling into the ride I could not make out the trees from the sky. It was that dark. The only visible things where the sporadic on-coming headlights, occasional small town or gas station, and where my headlights shone. We were about half way through the forest, when I noticed a dark treeline split by a highway. I blinked. I had gotten used to the darkness surrounding me. The horizon was dark gray over the highway and black treetops. “It must be dawn,” I murmured.

Psalm 571

Prayers in the Midst of Perils:

To the Chief Musician. Set to “Do Not Destroy.” A Michtam of David when he fled from Saul into the cave.

1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!

For my soul trusts in You;

And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,

Until these calamities have passed by.

2 I will cry out to God Most High,

To God who performs all things for me.

3 He shall send from heaven and save me;

He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. Selah

God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.

4 My soul is among lions;

I lie among the sons of men

Who are set on fire,

Whose teeth are spears and arrows,

And their tongue a sharp sword.

5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;

Let Your glory be above all the earth.

6 They have prepared a net for my steps;

My soul is bowed down;

They have dug a pit before me;

Into the midst of it they themselves have fallen. Selah

7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;

I will sing and give praise.

8 Awake, my glory!

Awake, lute and harp!

I will awaken the dawn.

9 I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples;

I will sing to You among the nations.

10 For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens,

And Your truth unto the clouds.

11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;

Let Your glory be above all the earth.

My drive continued eastward while the gray sky slowly lightened as the Master Creator prepared His canvas. Then one more wash of lighter gray and the deeper colors of wine, rust, and deeper gray clouds begin to touch the blue-gray sky pushing against the dark black night sky.

The Master continues to work color into the horizon further pushing darkness away. Rays of light began to show the deep ripe color of peaches and red reflecting against a pale yellow and peach horizon. The darkness recedes as my drive continues. The clouds accepting the Master’s strokes are illuminated by the rising great light shifting to brighter reds, oranges, and blue grays.

A fog rolls in from the forest and farmlands veiling the Master’s work from my prying eyes. The Creator’s star rises warming His earth, muted by the fog and clouds, while pushing the last of the night’s darkness from the canvas. Behind the veil, the Master’s hand moves faster painting the horizon and sky in still muted colors of orange, red, pink, yellow, gold, blue, white and gray.

In anticipation I wait for the Master’s unveiling. As I near the interstate to take me south to my old hometown, I see brilliant blinding color as His Star touches the horizon unveiling the Master’s Sunrise for the day.

My prayer today I humbly take from King David’s Psalm 57. It truly answers my prayers for my Country, God’s children, and my life. Today I praise my God for His mercy:

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;

I will sing and give praise.

8 Awake, my glory!

Awake, lute and harp!

I will awaken the dawn.

9 I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples;

I will sing to You among the nations.

10 For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens,

And Your truth unto the clouds.

11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;”

Let Your glory be above all the earth.

In Yeshua’s Name Amen. In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Take a moment to watch God spread His blessings and miracles no matter how “ordinary” we think they are,

Milly

P.S: The next day I realized, I haven’t sat and watched the dawn in more than 20 years. The wonder motivated me to pay attention to more of God’s work around me, and see my world in a different light.
