This week my moms found something in the parable of the Lost Son.  Usually, I glaze over when this parable is mentioned.  I cannot count the number of sermons and homilies I have heard on the “Prodigal Son.”  My mom pointed out a four-word phrase that changed my thinking.

Breaking the Drought

Milly’s Gray Memorial Day

On Memorial Day I woke to rain pelting the windows.  A clash of thunder had me opening the curtains in my dining room.  My giant oak in the front yard thrashed in the wind.  The world looked gray through the wind-driven rain from heavy charcoal clouds.  Will this break the drought?  I half prayed and half thought:  If so, it will be a good Memorial Day. Lessons from Darkness

Darkness descended over Milly’s Realm.  I kept my head up against the wind.  The Strength of the Most High supported me and protected my flank.  The storm clouds became black with greed, lies, and corruption.  Sickness invades and death follows.  Fear runs rampant through the inhabitants.  We hide our faces.  The economy crashes and jobs are lost.
