When The People Groan

Here in the United States we have an important election coming up. No, it is not a presidential election. It is what is called a “mid-term election.” Many congressional, state, and local elections will be determined. These choices may turn our country in a different direction. The people we choose will affect our lives at local and national levels. In the aftermath of the troubles of 2020, 2021, and now 2022, I am asking God what I should do to help my country and fellow man. I feel weak and insignificant. The noise from candidates and media is non-stop. It makes my head pound. Recently, I came across a Proverb:

Who First?

Waking up in 2022 has me looking around to see the lay of the land. The amount of information is overwhelming to my earthly senses. But it has opened my eyes to new things. As I dig to confirm sources and verify information, I found a theme resonating beneath the layers of words. Family First! (Insert Country here) First! People First! Me First!, First, First, First! If I understand correctly, we want to know where to start and what needs to be first. While the people shout a mantra of sorts to focus the leaders, I wonder… Who truly goes first?

National Novel Writing Month is back. November 1, 2021, I face the challenge of writing a novel in a month. Some people run marathons and others compete in games. This challenge for authors is our form of competition. But we compete with one’s self. It is a solitary marathon of words with the prize being finishing 50,000 words in a new novel in thirty days.
