Struggle Session

“Struggle session” is a fairly new term for me. I’ve been hearing it in political and educational news over the last couple of years. I’m not sure exactly what it means, but when I listen to the context, it doesn’t sound pleasant. To me, it sounds like a heated argument that is unlikely to be resolved without force or someone giving in to something they don’t believe. If this is going on in our political and educational systems, there are going to be hard feelings for a very long time! I shudder to think of the division. Then, I ask, is there good that comes from this practice?

The Luxury of Fear

Photo by Alexandra Gorn on Unsplash

Over the last several weeks, I have discovered more fears buried in my heart as we battled for faith in our own home. Yes, I have written about my struggles with fear in more than a few posts. To regain our home my husband and I had to shove away the fears of what might happen. But fear does not give up easily.

Come Back

Milly’s Come Back Mango

How are things going? Sunday was the coldest day of 2022 in South Florida so far. Don’t laugh. It got to 36 degrees Fahrenheit, then climbed to a high of 59 degrees! Okay… laugh with me. In the past, these many choices have left me exhausted, sometimes sick, and glad the season was over for another year.

National Novel Writing Month is back. November 1, 2021, I face the challenge of writing a novel in a month. Some people run marathons and others compete in games. This challenge for authors is our form of competition. But we compete with one’s self. It is a solitary marathon of words with the prize being finishing 50,000 words in a new novel in thirty days.

Normal

Finding a Path to Normal (Photo by MillyMoss in North Carolina Oct 2020)

There is still a lot of talk of the “new normal,” “returning to normal,” and “there is no going back to normal.” What does this mean? I have questions; What is normal? What is normal for me and what is normal for you? Since when was my normal or yours no longer normal?

Cherish the Elders

Happy Grandparents Day!  I wouldn’t have remembered it yesterday if not for my Parish Priest’s reminder.  It is easy to forget it in the myriad of days dedicated to something or another in the United States. However, it got me thinking… What has God got to say about our grandparents and elders?
