We are getting close to the official start of Fall here in the Northern Hemisphere. The change of seasons usually gets me looking back at what got done and what didn’t over the last quarter. It’s a leftover of my working life where we reevaluated every quarter of the financial year. While my life no longer follows financial quarters, it is still an ingrained habit to look at how things are going with each season.

Sowing the Spirit

Planting season is in full swing in South Florida. Using the lessons learned, I am tearing out the old, sowing the seeds, and praying with hope for a harvest. All while keeping up with renovations and learning to sell online. My writing has suffered because of the time constraints. I have learned when it is time to work the land, something has to give.

A Merry Christmas from Florida

Yes, the mountain girl went to the beach yesterday, Christmas Eve, and that is Florida ‘snow’ that you see on the water. A cold front moved through SoFlo* this morning. The high yesterday was eighty degrees with winds, cloudy skies and a chance of ‘snow.’ As I write this, the temperature outside is fifty-five degrees. We expect the low tonight to be forty-two degrees. I’d better cover the plants! BRR! {Guffaw!} This is as close to a White Christmas as we get. Can you see the whitecaps on the Atlantic?

Out Running the Storm

Lately I feel like I am out running a major storm of Cat 5 proportions. Everywhere I look, I see panic. Warnings of shutdowns and threats of more violence abound on the news that filters to me. The “run run hurry hurry” panic builds in my chest. Slow down, Milly. Let’s see through the darkening atmosphere.

Morning Guidance

This morning I woke with praise for the Almighty on my lips.  Yes, my head was pounding and my thoughts blurred by sleep.  During the early morning hours, I woke a few times before I got up.  Each time I thanked God for the day, his graces, or for being my God before fading back to sleep.
