Spring is in the air. The sun is warming the day here in South Florida. A visit to the Lighthouse this morning revived my soul. I hope your day is restoring your spirit.
We all need something to revive our souls. The world does not provide soul nourishment. Oh yes, it provides for some of our physical needs and entertainment. Yet, today, what I really need is a soothing touch deep inside where the essence of life lives.
It is hard to identify what we long for in a secular world. It is that deep ache that never goes away without spiritual intervention that only the Prince of Peace can deliver. After driving through the drive-thru lane at a local restaurant, I moved the cross I keep in my car out of the cup holder to hold our drinks. Absentmindedly tucking it into the cubby in my console, I got the family’s dinner and drove home.
At one time the cross belonged to my Mother-In-Law, and I found it last year during the virus crisis and left it in my car. Periodically it reminds me to keep my focus on Christ and place my worries in God’s hands. I parked the car in the driveway, looked down and saw what you see in the picture. The cross covering the masks in my car, the first thing I thought was, “Where is my faith? Is is in Jesus Christ or in the mask?”
The County I live in here in South Florida still requires the mask. Sitting there, a little stunned, I realized the mask represents man’s solutions and the world’s system does not care about the individual. Who cares? My Lord cares. If no one else in the world cares, my Lord cared enough to sacrifice himself by taking all our sins to give us mercy no matter what. They did not show him mercy. Yet the Son of God took our punishment and gave us love and mercy in return.
13 as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the great God and of our savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his own, eager to do what is good. [Titus 2:13-14]
So, where is my faith placed? In the Savior, the only Son of God. He is the one who can cleanse me of sin. There is no mask that can cover my sin. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can do that. The bonus is when I put my faith in the Lord, He is my protection. He tells us over and over: Do not be afraid. We have nothing to fear except God Almighty. He loves us and cares for us so much that he has numbered the hairs on our head.
Even the hairs of your head have all been counted. Do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows. [Luke 12:7]
Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us your son as a sacrifice to save us from our sinful decisions and actions. Keep drawing us closer to you during this Easter season. Continue to pour out your spirit on us as we walk this journey with you. We ask for your guidance. As we walk through this hostile wilderness, we praise and glorify You. Hallelujah! Today we bless you as our Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The resurrection frees us from sin and death! Blessed is the Name of the Lord! In Jesus’ name. Amen. In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Many blessings as we enter our Easter Season. Happy Easter!
Milly
